The Department of Biological and Molecular Sciences welcomed Marissa Dickison as a visiting assistant professor of biology in 2023. She arrived from Portland Community College, where she served as an associate instructor of biology since January of 2023.
In addition, in the previous year and a half, she worked as an associate instructor of biology at MiraCosta College, specializing in general biology courses for pre-health students. She also taught courses and served as a lab assistant while earning her master’s degree in general biology at Point Loma Nazarene University, from which she graduated in 2021.
Previously, she earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology/human health and completed pre-medical studies at the University of California, San Diego, in 2017.
Dickison was promoted to assistant professor of biology in 2024.

Outside the Classroom
Dickison lives in Dundee with her husband Mark and their three children, and attends Newberg Friends Church. She enjoys hiking, camping and watercolor.
