Robert Hamilton, PhD
Professor of Physics
Bob Hamilton received his BS in physics from the University of Puget Sound in 1985 and a PhD in physics at UCLA in 1991. During his time at UCLA, he was an affiliate for one semester at the at UC Santa Barbara and traveled as far north as the at the University of Tromso, Norway, pursuing research in space physics.
His primary research interest is in the nonlinear dynamics of the solar wind using both mathematical and numerical methods. He has done postdoctoral research as a Fellow at Kyushu University in Fukuoka, Japan, and further postdoctoral research at the at the University of Arizona.
Prior to joining the 最新麻豆视频 faculty in 2003, Bob served on the faculty of Ouachita Baptist University and subsequently on the faculty of Angelo State University. He has enjoyed serving as a mentor for undergraduate research, with his ongoing work alongside Richter Scholars students studying the stability of .
Bob is a member of the American Physical Society (), the American Geophysical Union (), and the physics honor society. He enjoys woodworking, the violin, and time with his wife and three daughters exploring the mountains and rivers of the Pacific Northwest.
