Gideon Lyngdoh, PhD

Assistant Professor of Civil Engineering

Gideon Lyngdoh

The university welcomed Gideon Lyngdoh as an assistant professor of civil engineering in 2022. He arrived after completing his PhD studies in civil engineering (structural engineering) at the University of Rhode Island, where he concurrently did a graduate research/teaching assistantship.

He also did summer work as a graduate research intern in the institution’s Multiscale and Multiphysics Mechanics of Materials Research Laboratory, specializing in machine learning, molecular dynamics, multiscale and finite element analysis, and cementitious material. Gideon also gained extensive teaching experience as a graduate teaching assistant between 2015 and 2021.

His primary areas of research and expertise are in the fields of computational mechanics (molecular and finite element method), multiscale and multiphysics, and machine learning of cementitious polymers and concrete. In addition to his doctorate, he earned a master of technology degree in structural engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology in Kanpur, India (2017), as well as a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from Jabalpur Engineering College in India (2014).

Gideon lives in Newberg and attends Saints’ Hill Church. He enjoys coffee and tea, playing board games, and morning and evening walks.
