Program Overview
The at Tokyo Christian University is a one-semester program, offered in the fall semester, that gives students the opportunity to study in Japan at a Christian University.
Course Content
EAI consists of four primary courses, carrying three semester credit hours each, that introduce Japanese culture. The courses are Anthropology, History and Current Affairs of Japan; Arts and Ascetics of Japan; The Religion and Philosophy of Japan; and An Introduction to Basic Japanese Language and Practical Culture.
It’s also possible to add an extra course for a total of 18 hours. This is not necessarily recommended, as it is good to plan for time to explore Japanese culture. All courses are taught in English or Japanese (with immediate English translation).
Excursions
The program includes five to seven field trips around Tokyo and Japan. The trips range from travel to anime and magna centers in Japan to a historically important shrine in the Japanese Alps with an overnight stay at a Japanese hotel and hot springs.
Housing
Students will live and eat with Japanese students in dorms and the dining hall.
Program Fees & Eligibility

To apply, you must be a full-time undergraduate student with junior or senior status, holding a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
Application Process
Applying to the program is a two-step process, requiring that you complete both a George Fox and external site application. Visit the Application Page to get specific details. Once you’ve completed the George Fox application, we will provide you with information to apply to the Japan program.
