Sara Hahn-Huston

Sara Hahn-Huston joined the College of Education as an assistant professor of educational leadership in 2023 and serves as the director of the administrator licensure program.

A public-school educator for more than 30 years, her experience includes 10 years of teaching, 13 years as a school principal at two levels, and seven years as a district office cabinet-level leader and superintendent.

Sara’s career has predominantly been in Oregon, teaching and leading in large urban districts (Portland Public Schools and Salem-Keizer Public Schools) and in East Multnomah County, with time spent leading a turn-around school in Everett Public Schools in Washington (2007-2010). She brings her experience into the George Fox classroom to prepare aspiring school and district office administrators.

Sara earned a doctor of education degree in educational leadership from the University of Oregon (2009) and holds a master’s degree in educational policy, foundations and administration from Portland State University (2002), as well as a bachelor’s degree in education from the University of Portland (1992).

She is active in the local church, where she serves on the Justice Ministries team overseeing global mission partners, and is active in overseas missions, serving for the last 18 years with a focus on supporting the persecuted church and using her training as an educator to support refugees in countries where they experience isolation, abandonment, oppression and marginalization. She also provides training to the educators who embrace them.

Sara is passionate about utilizing her experience in education for missions, which includes supporting kingdom-minded leaders in the field. She is married and has three sons and a yellow lab named Rex.
