Since 1891, 最新麻豆视频 has been educating Christian leaders for effective service in improving the spiritual and material conditions of human life. The Center for Peace and Justice is one of the significant ways 最新麻豆视频 carries out its Christ-centered, Quaker mission.
Created in December 1984 as the Center for Peace Learning, the Center for Peace and Justice helps people understand and manage the many forms of conflict. The center's goal is to nurture agents of hope, people who embody in their citizenship, careers, and daily lives God's promised gifts of peace and reconciliation.
The Center for Peace and Justice extends the Quaker heritage and the Christian higher educational work of 最新麻豆视频 by collecting information, teaching, and providing resources and experiences in peacemaking and conflict management at all levels of human interaction, from interpersonal to international.
Curricula and Programs
The Center for Peace and Justice coordinates a number of courses taught by faculty in various departments, which can be combined in a minor or used to enrich courses taken as preparation for service in such careers as social work, pastoral ministry, peace education, teaching in public or private schools, diplomacy, and business.
The center also coordinates a study program in conflict management to prepare students for practical peacemaking in their work, church, community and family. Students will study the theory of communication and conflict resolution, be introduced to relevant skills, and equip themselves to apply this learning in a variety of actions. Certificates are awarded upon completion of the program.
In addition to regular course work, the center offers a variety of learning experiences for students and community participants, including lectures, films, international work/study trips, and field experience placements.
Resources
A collection of books, articles, media, and other resources of interest are kept at the Center for Peace and Justice, available to students, faculty and supporters. A circulating peace collection is maintained in the university library.

Elio Constantine
Director of Heart for Lebanon's Middle East Center for Justice & Missions
Thursday, October 17, 7-8:30 p.m.
Hoover Academic Building, Room 105 & Live Stream
Constantine will address the root cause for the injustices happening in Lebanon and the region, how we are called to live in justice, and how the Biblical approach to justice is global and can be applied anywhere in the world.
Elio Constantine is a Lebanese business professional with an MBA in Finance and an MS in Nonprofit Management. He joined Heart for Lebanon in 2020, a Christian organization focused on helping under-resourced families and children in Lebanon grow spiritually. Elio led the "Restore Beirut" team after the 2020 explosion and established the organization's Monitoring and Evaluation department. Currently, he oversees the Middle East Center for Justice and Missions, which advocates for justice through Christian missions and provides training for future leaders.
Heart for Lebanon, founded after the 2006 Lebanon war, aims to transform communities and make disciples through Christian service. It has expanded from a small Beirut warehouse to larger centers across Lebanon, addressing crises like the Syrian and Iraqi refugee crises, Lebanon’s economic collapse, the COVID-19 pandemic, and the Beirut explosion.
The Middle East Center for Justice and Missions promotes a Christ-centered approach to addressing injustice, providing advocacy, and hands-on training. It highlights Lebanon’s chronic injustices, arguing that true justice can only be found through faith in Jesus Christ.
